The Moorfields and UCL Laser course for ophthalmologists

Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology are delighted to present this new laser course for ophthalmologists.

This full day course will be delivered by Moorfields consultants and senior clinicians. It is designed to enhance both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in ophthalmic laser procedures, and will ensure participants are well-prepared to deliver optimal patient care.

About the course

The practical workshops will offer comprehensive training, using specialist laser model eyes and laser machines. You’ll have the opportunity to deliver three laser procedures: YAG laser capsulotomy, YAG peripheral iridotomy (PI), and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), all of which, meet the objectives set by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (DOPS SS14 and SS15).

The training includes formative assessments. Feedback will be given during the workshops and at the end of the session. It is expected that you will be capable of carrying out the procedure in a training setting. At the end of the course, you will obtain a certificate of participation and a competency sign off pack.

Who should attend?

Ophthalmologists wanting to gain further training in the laser procedures, or ophthalmic healthcare professionals who’ve attended our laser course for healthcare professionals previously.
