You will require to have an intermediate slit lamp skills. This will be supplemented by face to face learning for the practical skills element of the course.

This course follows on from level 1 to further develop your knowledge and skills in the detection, evaluation and management of patients with stable ocular hypertension (OHT) and open angle glaucoma (OAG). You will further develop your skills in detecting change in clinical status and decision making in patients at risk of developing glaucoma. The course is centred around critical evaluation of the evidence base and clinical decision making. This course is designed to suit busy professionals through blended learning that will be carried out 100% online through lectures, forum activities and webinars. This will be supplemented by face to face learning for the practical skills element of the course.

Medical retina level 1 (College of Optometrists Professional Certificate in Medical Retina)

This course aims to provide the knowledge of common medical retina conditions and includes topics covering screening, referral and possible treatment pathways, with an emphasis on optical coherence tomography (OCT) interpretation and diabetic retinopathy grading. It also aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills to make accurate and appropriate referral decisions for patients with medical retina conditions and prepares you to commence working under supervision in medical retina new patient triage clinics, AMD treatment-retreatment clinics and to work in photography based diabetic retinopathy screening services. This course is designed to suit busy professionals through blended learning. It is delivered online and supplemented by face to face component.

This course is designed to build up from Medical Retina level 1 (The College of Optometrists Professional Certificate in Medical Retina) to further develop skills in screening, diagnosing and managing a variety of medical retina conditions. It is the taught part of the College of Optometrists Professional Higher Certificate in Medical Retina where a clinical placement is required. It is designed to suit busy professionals through blended learning which will be carried out 85% virtually and supplemented by face to face component.
