This course is designed to suit busy professionals through blended learning. It will be carried out online and supplemented by face to face component. Contact Lenses Level 1

Contact Lenses Level 1

Medical Contact Lenses Level 1 is for eye care practitioners wishing to develop specialist contact lens practice and will include RGP and soft CL management of regular and irregular astigmatism, such as early keratoconus, presbyopia, myopia control and orthokeratology, dry eye in contact lens practice.

It is designed to suit busy professionals through blended learning. It will be carried out online and supplemented by the face to face day. The face to face component involves workshops, case discussions, patient assessments and discussion of clinical "pearls" from experienced practitioners.

Contact Lenses Level 2

Medical Contact Lenses Level 2 is for ophthalmologists and optometrists wishing to specialise in the contact lens management of corneal and external disease including advanced keratoconus, post corneal surgery, therapeutic and cosmetic contact lenses, paediatric contact lenses and will include hybrids, piggy back contact lenses, large diameter corneal lenses, mini-sclerals and sclerals.

This course is designed to suit busy professional through blended learnng. It will be carried out online and supplemented by the face to face component. This componend involves workshops and discussion of clinical "pearls" from experienced practitioners.

Glaucoma Level 1

Glaucoma Level 1

This introductory 15 credit module in glaucoma aims to provide you with the understanding of the condition as well as the knowledge and skills to evaluate a patient who may have glaucoma. It further aims to provide additional specialist knowledge and skills for monitoring patients with diagnosed ocular hypertension (OHT) and suspect open angle glaucoma (OAG) who have an established management plan. This module assumes intermediate slit lamp skills.

Glaucoma Level 2

Glaucoma Level 2

This 15 credit module follows on from level 1 to further develop your knowledge and skills in the detection, evaluation and management of patients with stable ocular hypertension (OHT) and open angle glaucoma (OAG). You will further develop your skills in detecting change in clinical status and decision making in patients at risk of developing glaucoma. The module centred around critical evaluation of the evidence base and clinical decision making.

This 30 credit module aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to provide non-surgical management of patients with established open angle glaucoma (OAG) and other cases of glaucoma e.g. treated angle closure, pseudo exfoliative glaucoma. The module also builds further on critical appraisal of evidence and application to clinical decision making.

Medical Retina Level 1

This 15 - credit module aims to provide the knowledge of common medical retina conditions and includes topics covering screening, referral and possible treatment pathways, with an emphasis on optical coherence tomography (OCT) interpretation and diabetic retinopathy grading. It also aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills to make accurate and appropriate referral decisions for patients with medical retina conditions and prepares you to commence working under supervision in medical retina new patient triage clinics, AMD treatment-retreatment clinics and to work in photography based diabetic retinopathy screening services.

Medical Retina Level 2

Medical Retina Level 2

The training programme is designed to build up from Medical Retina level 1 (The College of Optometrists Professional Certificate in Medical Retina) to further develop skills in screening, diagnosing and managing a variety of medical retina conditions. This module is the taught part of the College of Optometrists Professional Higher Certificate in Medical Retina where a clinical placement is required.
