To gain an understanding of the diagnostic criteria, aetiology, pathogenesis and management of various types glaucoma while observing in clinic and theatre.
Visiting ophthalmologists cannot treat patients but they do have the opportunity to observe Moorfields' consultants in action, examine patients with slit lamps and ophthalmoscopes, and attend surgical operations. On Application we will require; Current CV, Letter of Recommendation from your hospital or institution and for those registered as an SOE/EBO, a copy of your confirmation letter. It is your responsibility to submit these documents to us. Bookings can only be made one financial year at a time (April to April).
On the first day of an observership start time is 10am, however sessions can be timetabled from 8.30am during the rest of the week. Payment must be made in GBP for your observership period and an automatic approval will be given when booking. If the above documentation is not sent within five working days of your booking the request will be cancelled and with the fee minus a 25% administration charge will be retained.
